The Concentus Moraviae Festival offers audience an opportunity to link unique music experiences with visits to inspiring venues of South Moravian and Vysočina regions. During the month of June more than thirty concerts of classical music overlapping with other genres are organised in castles, castle courtyards, churches and synagogues of two dozens of Moravian towns annually. The 22nd festival year subtitled LA VOCE is conceived by Václav Luks and the festival is focused on the human voice and singing in all forms from chant over historical folk music to baroque opera or jazz. The 450th anniversary of Claudio Monteverdi's birth is the main dramaturgical emphasis in 2017. Leading Czech ensembles of early music will appear in the festival with various pre-baroque and baroque programs, extraordinary European ensembles focused on medieval and Renaissance music will perform. Audience can also visit remote parts of Europe by listening to Nordic melodies, mesmerizing sound of Mediterranean chant and traditional Portuguese fado. More on the dramaturgy here.
