Concentus Moraviae International Music Festival of 13 Towns

theme “Shakespeare, Beethoven and the Czech quartet tradition”

01 06 – 28 06 2016

The Concentus Moraviae International Music Festival of 13 Towns offers to listeners an  opportunity to combine unique music experiences with a visit to the picturesque towns of South Moravia and the Vysočina Region. Three dozens of classical music concerts in churches, synagogues, chateaux and chateaux courtyards are organised annually during the month of June.

Shakespeare, Beethoven and the Czech quartet tradition will meet within the twenty first edition of the festival focused on string quartet. Dramaturges Jiří Beneš and Aleš Březina selected a verse from Shakespeare's sonnet No. 8 to be the motto of the whole year: "One string, sweet husband to another, strikes each in each by mutual ordering." From June 1st to 28th, 2016, leading Czech and international quartets will perform in Moravia and the Pavel Haas Quartet has been appointed the ensemble in residence of the festival.

More about program here.

Pavel Haas Quartet will be the Ensemble in Residence of Concentus Moraviae in 2016. We look forvard to five concerts and master classes for young string quartets.
