Guido Morini
Born in Milan in 1959, Guido Morini graduated in organ and harpsichord, specialising in early music and studying in particular the practices of basso continuo and improvisation. His many concert activities have led to collaborations with some of the most important musicians in Europe. He has made over seventy recordings, many of which have received awards as well as great acclaim from the international press. Accordone makes exclusively live recordings for the Austrian Radio ORF. Together with Marina Spreafico of the Teatro Arsenale di Milano, Morini has instituted a workshop on the relationship between sound, space, gesture
and instrument. He also composes music for productions by the same theatre. Just as a maestro di cappella from the past was not only occupied with performing pre-existent music, but was also dedicated to creating a repertoire conceived specifically for his own ensemble, Guido Morini began making arrangements and reworkings in the style of the period, before moving on to free compositions, creating for Accordone concert programs, performances, oratorios and liturgical music. “Una Odissea” (2002), based on a text by Marco Beasley, and “Vivifice Spiritus Vitae Vis” (2005), the first part of “Servabo” (a trilogy dedicated to the Holy Trinity), are two projects which take up the challenge of recreating a musical language which speaks to the heart of the XXI-century listener.
