JERUSALEM QUARTET

Jerusalem Quartet

Program:

Joseph Haydn: String quartet in G major No. 1, Op. 76

Erich Wolfgang Korngold: String quartet in E-flat major No. 2, Op. 26
BélaBartók: String quartet No. 4

Mikulov Castle welcomes one of the world's most popular chamber music ensembles. The Izraeli Jerusalem Quartet is well-known in Europe and around the world thanks to its regular concert tours. This great ensemble has appeared in prestigious concert halls like Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Herkulessaal in Munich, Wigmore Hall in London and Cité de la Musique in Paris. In Mikulov, a glittering program that we could call "Austro-Hungarian" will be performed, beginning with the first of Haydn's six quartets, opus number 76, dedicated to Count Erdődy and undoubtedly representing the pinnacle of the composer's quartet works. This is followed by a graceful yet little-played second quartet by a native of Brno, Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Bartok's String Quartet No. 4, a work in five movements full of technical flair, will lend the program a Hungarian flavour.
