SZYMANOWSKI QUARTET

Szymanowski Quartet

Program:

Karol Szymanowski: String Quartet No. 1, Op. 37

StanisławMoniuszko: String Quartet in D minor No. 1

GrażynaBacewicz: String Quartet No. 4

They say it is hard not to fall in love with the Szymanowski Quartet the first time you listen to them! For almost a quarter of a century, the Warsaw-based players have been garnering ovations all around the world and bring a purely Polish program with them to Řeznovice. They will kick off with the "first" string quartets, beginning with the work of Karol Szymanovski, whose name the ensemble proudly bears, followed by StanisławMoniuszko, whose 200th anniversary is being celebrated this year and who is known as the father of Polish opera. A pleasant surprise for audiences will be the work of one of the few Polish composers to have achieved international recognition. Violin virtuoso GrażynaBacewicz has also successfully performed the composition which she studied with among others the legendary Nadia Boulanger in Paris before World War II.
