BORODIN QUARTET

Borodin Quartet

Program:

Sergej Prokofiev: String quartet No. 2, Op. 92

Joseph Haydn: String quartet No. 5, Op. 33

Dmitrij Dmitrijevič Shostakovich: String Quartet No. 9, Op. 117

After the two performances of Prokofiev's first quartet in 2011 and 2016, our festival will finally see the second of the two magnificent string quartets in the performance of the "great Russian masters", who currently form the iconic Borodin Quartet. This "brand" has maintained the highest interpretive bar for more than 70 years! In addition to Prokofiev, the Castle Library will resound with Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 9, the first version of which the composer claims to have burned, composing an entirely new work three years later, and the fifth of Haydn's so-called "Russian" quartets, which in the 19th century began to be known as "How do you do?"
